Joseph Jacobs

Director, Mid Atlantic Coaches Academy

Dr. Joseph “Jake” Jacobs is the Graduate Coordinator for the Department of Exercise Science and Physical Education at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. Dr. Jacobs has served various sport and community organizations as a consultant including AAHPERD, the Fort Ritchie Community Center, Washington County MD Board of Education, and the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. He is also an adjunct professor at the Pennsylvania State University – Mont Alto Campus and member of the US Sports Academy’s international faculty with assignments to various countries in the Middle East and Asia.

A former member of the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education Board of Directors, Dr. Jacobs has also taught and directed the coaching minor at Shippensburg University, and published The Psychological Factor in Sport in The Student-Athlete and College Recruiting.

A former Bloomsburg University baseball and football student-athlete, he continued with coaching roles at Western Maryland College, Johns Hopkins University, and College of the Ozarks (MO) as the pitching and conditioning coach. He enjoys the Little League coaching assignment now in his hometown baseball program.

Dr. Jacobs received his doctorate from the University of Maryland in Sport Psychology, as well as Masters’ and Bachelors of Science degrees in Physical Education. Additionally, he holds a Master’s in Administrative Science from Johns Hopkins University. He and his wife Pamela live in Waynesboro, PA and are the proud parents of their daughter, a high school swimmer, Gini, and son, Joey, an aspiring elementary school baseball player.
